I have been teaching private lessons for over 20 years. I have been fortunate enough to study with some of the greatest legends and I am happy to pass that education along to my students in a loving yet structured way. I love children, and I understand every stage of development, as I have raised two of my own children. I also enjoy teaching adults. It is my joy to share my musical knowledge with others. This is my calling and has been my life long dream since I was a child.
I teach well-rounded lessons, in that I incorporate theory, ear training, demonstration, music history, and so much more into my lessons. I teach my students how to be self-disciplined in their practicing, how to trouble-shoot, how to be patient with their practicing, how to set attainable goals and reach them. I am always challenging my students to reach the next level, while being very careful to make sure that they feel successful in their efforts. It is not my philosophy to make students practice, but rather to make them love it so much that they want to practice. I offer end-of-the-year recitals for all students wishing to participate. Recitals are not mandatory. I also offer flute choir to flute students.
I am passionate about music, teaching, and children. It is my joy to pass along everything I have learned from the great teachers I have studied with, and to do it in a loving, patient and kind way. At the same time, I teach discipline and hard work to my students. This combination has been a recipe for success for my students for many years. I enjoy teaching students who are learning for pleasure as much as students who are competing and preparing for college. It is my goal to enrich the lives of my students with the joy of music.
